Product catalog
Overview
The Product Catalog is a product management tool within the Banqup ecosystem, designed to help micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses manage the information about their goods and services without the need for an ERP system. It provides a centralized way to store and maintain product information such as names, descriptions, pricing, classifications, and custom attributes.
Additionally, the Product Catalog supports invoicing workflows by offering the possibility of adding the products to new invoices created with the Document Creator app.
Core capabilities
Manage product information
The Product Catalog manages how product data is created, stored, and used across Banqup. It is scoped at the space level, meaning each business space maintains its own catalog(s) under the same application, and products created within one space are not shared with others.
The Product Catalog offers a dedicated user interface where users can add, edit, activate/deactivate or delete products, manage descriptions and pricing, and define additional custom attributes for each item.
Add products to new invoices
When adding new invoice lines to an invoice using the document creation tool, users can search for and select catalog items to add directly to the invoice. This functionality improves invoice accuracy by ensuring consistent product data.
Note: If a product isn't in the catalog, the Document Creator app lets users add it directly when creating an invoice.
Add tax rates to new invoices
The Product Catalog also allows users to add the tax rate corresponding to a product. In the future, the tax rate will be added automatically based on the transaction location country, provided the product is listed in the catalog.
Data management
The Product Catalog operates as a separate application, with its own Product Store for managing catalog data. During invoice creation, the selected product data is copied into the Data Store only in relation to that invoice, meaning it is preserved as-is and not linked to the original catalog entry. This ensures invoice integrity even if product details are later changed.
